Good to know
The southeast stretches from Llucmajor and Campos to Felanitx and Cala d'Or. It is known for small rocky coves with clear water, the long natural beach of Es Trenc and the salt flats behind it, and quiet farmland between the villages.
- Es Trenc lies within a protected natural area, so it has no large hotels behind it and parking is limited in high season.
- Portocolom and Cala d'Or have marinas and harbourside restaurants; the coves nearby are often best reached early in the day.
- Distances between villages are short, but a car is still needed for most villas in this area.
South-east Mallorca: Felanitx, Santanyí, Cala d'Or and Es Trenc
Who the south-east suits
- Families: Cala Marçal and Estanys have shallow water and seasonal beach services.
- Walkers and nature lovers: Mondragó Natural Park has five easy signed walks of about 15 to 60 minutes, and Es Trenc has the coastal Ran de Mar route.
- Boaters: Portocolom is a natural harbour and Marina Cala d'Or is an official marina; boat trips to Cabrera National Park leave from Colònia de Sant Jordi.
Beaches and coves
- Es Trenc, Campos: Almost 2 km of sand and shallow water backed by dunes and wetland, inside a protected natural park.
- S'Amarador, Mondragó: Fine white sand and shallow water under pines; no sports facilities, so bring what you need.
- Cala Llombards, Santanyí: A white-sand cove between rocks, with fishermen's boathouses and a beach bar.
- Cala Marçal, Portocolom: A sandy beach by the harbour entrance with calm, shallow water and summer lifeguards.
- Es Caragol, Ses Salines: An undeveloped beach with dunes, reached only by boat or a 1.6 km coastal walk from the Ses Salines lighthouse.
Towns and sights
- Felanitx: A wine town in the Pla i Llevant designation, with the Santueri castle and the Sant Salvador hermitage.
- Santanyí: A golden-stone town with a busy Plaça Major, galleries and art workshops.
- Mondragó Natural Park: 766 protected hectares of woodland, dunes, cliffs, wetland and farmland.
- Capocorb Vell, Llucmajor: A Bronze Age settlement with five surviving talayots.
Weekly markets
- Felanitx: Sunday
- Portocolom: Tuesday and Saturday
- Santanyí: Wednesday and Saturday
- Campos: Thursday and Saturday
- Llucmajor: Wednesday, Friday and Sunday
MICHELIN Guide dining

Good to know
- Mondragó and Es Trenc are protected parks: stay on signed routes and follow the on-site rules.
- Es Trenc has a paid car park and bus links to Sa Ràpita and Colònia de Sant Jordi; Mondragó's car parks are managed in summer.
- The wilder coves need a short walk: take water and suitable shoes.
