Good to know
The north of Mallorca wraps around two wide bays, Pollença and Alcúdia. Pollença is an old inland town with a stone-paved centre and a sheltered port a few kilometres away, while Alcúdia keeps its medieval walls and the remains of the Roman city of Pollentia. Villas here are mostly in the countryside between the towns and the coast.
- The Bay of Alcúdia has long, gently shelving sandy beaches, which many families prefer for young children.
- Pollença's Calvari steps, the Sunday market and the Formentor peninsula are classic outings from villas in this area.
- Most villas sit outside the town centres, so plan on a car for beaches, restaurants and shopping.
Pollença, Formentor and Alcúdia: local guide
Who the north-east bays suit
- Families: Alcúdia beach has more than 3 km of fine sand and shallow water, with lifeguarded sections and accessible walkways.
- Walkers, cyclists and birdwatchers: Pollença's signed biodiversity walks include Formentor and Bóquer, and S'Albufera Natural Park has four signed itineraries.
- Boaters and golfers: Port de Pollença and Port d'Alcúdia both have harbours, and Club de Golf Alcanada is an 18-hole, par-72 course.
Beaches and coves
- Alcúdia beach: More than 3 km of fine sand and shallow, clear water; quieter towards Platja de Muro.
- Platja de Muro: 5.2 km of golden sand with little wave. Es Comú is a protected, unspoilt stretch without services.
- Formentor beach: A long sandy beach among pines with clear water and a small bar; the road in is steep and winding.
- Cala Barques, Cala Sant Vicenç: The largest of four coves at Cala Sant Vicenç, with fine sand; exposed to the north wind on some days.
- Cala Murta: A sheltered pebble cove on the Formentor peninsula, reached on foot, with no facilities: bring water and shade.
Towns and sights
- Pollença old town: Plaça Major, the parish church and the 365 cypress-lined steps up to the Calvari chapel, which dates from 1795.
- Alcúdia and Pollentia: Medieval walls and gates around the old town, and the Roman city of Pollentia with its forum and theatre.
- Cap de Formentor: The lighthouse stands on cliffs more than 200 m high; Mirador des Colomer is on the same road.
- S'Albufera Natural Park: A protected wetland of more than 2,000 hectares between Muro and sa Pobla, entered on foot or by bicycle.
Weekly markets
- Pollença: Sunday, Plaça Major
- Port de Pollença: Wednesday
- Alcúdia old town: Tuesday and Sunday
- Port d'Alcúdia: Friday
MICHELIN Guide dining

Good to know
- In summer the DGT restricts private cars on the Formentor road (in 2026: 15 May to 18 October, 10:00 to 22:00); the TIB 334 shuttle runs to the beach and lighthouse. Check the DGT before you go.
- S'Albufera needs a free visitor permit from the information centre; cars stay outside the park.
- Port d'Alcúdia has ferry links to Menorca and Barcelona; check the operator's timetable.

Stored starting prices range from €826 to €10,000 per night. The exact total depends on your dates and is shown on each villa page.
How do I book one of these villas?
